MADD is a teacher-led structured class with space for students' input and suggestions - but dancing should be fun and we will never stray far from this objective.

MADD will be following the BTDA syllabus and students will be given regular opportunities to take exams and medal tests.

As well as exams, students will work towards a regular show - giving them the chance to experience the thrill of applause – and Nan the chance to see what the kids have been up to all year! Follow this link for pictures of the last show

I aim for my students to:

* have fun!

* enhance their self-discipline and confidence.

* learn the performance art of dance within a safe and well-ordered environment, developing both dance technique and performance skills.

* discover the joy of self-expression through movement and performance.

* develop their own ideas and creativity.

* ...and we'll sneak in a whole load of exercise while they're not looking.

What I expect from my students:

* That each child treat their fellow students and teacher with dignity and respect.

* Having committed to participate in a performance, the will endeavor to attend every relevant rehearsal.

* They will adhere to the class rules, for their own safety and that of others.

What you can expect from me:

* A committed yet light-hearted approach to teaching, encompassing both time-honored and innovative techniques.

* To respect all individual personalities, helping students to recognize and draw on their strengths.

* I will always encourage students to challenge their perceived limitations, but NEVER force a student to attempt anything they don't want to do.

Who Am I:

I am Miss Yvette, principal member of Machen Academy and a registered teacher with the BTDA. I'm also CRB checked, hold a first aid certificate and once won a swimming badge - but I don't like to boast about that. I was 10.
